About You:

To whom it may concern,

I have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of Guelph and the TV Writing and Producing program at Humber College. Currently I work as a producer’s assistant for Rogers TV’s Daytime Peel, a writer for WhatCulture!, a website which discusses a variety of entertainment topics, most notably film and television and part time at a Tim Horton’s as a baker. Through the skills I have gained during my education and work experiences I know I can make an excellent addition to your team.

Creative writing has always been a strong passion of mine, one of the reasons I enrolled in the programs at Guelph and Humber. The TV Writing and Producing program armed me with the knowledge of how to write for television and film and extended my interest to producing. This allowed me to gain experience working with film, both for school and on professional sets. My work at Rogers has led me to become a producer’s assistant where I work directly with the producer/host to research topics, schedule guests and help ensure segments are filmed efficiently while meeting guest needs. This summer I became a writer for the website WhatCulture! where I write reviews and thoughts on film, television and entertainment news. Additionally I continue to work with classmates on short films, sketches and spec scripts.

My internship in the Professional Management Program at Bell Mobility gave me the chance to grow in a professional corporate environment. As an Associate of the Media & Communications department, my tasks included writing and editing several internal and external documents for promotional purposes. My largest accomplishment was leading a joint-department project for the PMP Complex catalogue for the UTM Career Fair. I was charged with scheduling photo shoots, coordinating deadlines, writing and editing page descriptions and photo captions. Due to my work on this project I was awarded with the monthly Veritas Award for demonstrating leadership qualities consistent with the PMP’s values.

Thanks to my positions at Arrowhead Camp, and the Mississauga Golf and Country Club I have experience managing people and attending the needs of individuals. These jobs have excelled my customer service abilities, allowing me to gain invaluable communication skills.

I would appreciate being considered for the position and would be happy to come in for an interview at your convenience. Thank you for taking the time to review my application.

Sincerely,

Richard Church
