About You: | Born in Toronto, Canada, Mark’s interest in music started when he was twelve years old, after he appropriated his father’s guitar. Practicing ten hours a day for many years, Mark then played and performed in various bands, with a focus on guitar instrumental music. Enrolled at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Mark eagerly studied for two years, with a focus on classical theory, harmony and piano. The Royal Conservatory was the beginning of Mark’s musical education, which ultimately led him to Boston’s fabled Berklee College of Music, where he earned a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Film Scoring and Composition. While at Berklee, Mark was featured in Guitar World Magazine, in the prestigious Mike Varney Home Town Heroes column, for outstanding guitar instrumental composition. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Mark began composing for television commercials, films and multimedia. His credits include music for The Oprah Winfrey show, C.S.I. Vegas, The Dr. Oz Show as well as additional music for The Matrix Reloaded, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Rollerball. He has also done composition for over 40 films, including recent feature film My Funny Valentine (starring Tom Payne and Pippa Black), Boardwalk Poets (starring Daniel Baldwin), and Love’s Devotion Forever (starring Jay Thomas). Other career highlights include composing a heroic orchestral piece for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Games, recorded by a live full orchestra, as well as a national commercial spot for Woodland Worldwide, a renowned apparel company in India. Today, Mark is continuously dividing his time between Los Angeles and Toronto, working on various projects. In his spare time, he can be found collecting art, hiking and playing tennis.
