About Yourself:
About You: | My resume as a pdf (for quick access): https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9nqpnh1wilsMHM0YTNPNjNjb0U/edit I am a recent graduate of Kenyon College with a BA in English and a minor in Math. My primary interest in TV/Film is as a writer, specifically in the field of animation, but I also have a deep interest in video editing, and experience working as a PA on set. My writing credits include two episodes for the first season of the Durham, NH-based childrens’ puppet TV series Sammy’s New World. I was also a semifinalist in the 2013 Big Break Screenwriting Competition’s TV category, with a half-hour spec script “Nothing to Fly Home About” for the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In addition to the above I have written short stories, novels, short films and one feature-length animated film script. I have contributed to Sammy’s New World as a Production Assistant during the shooting of the pilot in Fall 2013, working under Assistant Director Phil Robinson. I have also worked with series creator Lesley Smith in drafting emails as part of fundraising campaigns, as well as creating loglines and statements of purpose for the series. I have also been active in the “Abridged series” community within the anime fandom and have produced a number of “fan parodies”–redubbing and recutting footage from Japanese animated series as a form of parody/homage. These can be found on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/DuoHimura/videos On all of these fan parody projects I wrote original dialogue, coming up with ways to reorder the existing footage to spoof the situations and characters of the original source. For each video I’ve produced I have also scheduled and directed voice recording sessions (typically acting in one or two parts myself), organized the audio from those recording sessions, and performed the actual video editing. Two of my parodies have been accepted into Otakon’s (one of the largest East-Coast anime conventions, with over 30,000 annual attendants) fan parody screenings for the years of 2012 and 2013. The former of these, The Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Did You Forget About Love? is a 35-minute treatment of the first 6 episodes of the anime series “Macross,” which was produced from script to final product in a 6-week span–although the editing is thus rough in places, I believe it speaks to my ability to coordinate, direct, and edit on a tight deadline: It can be found in 3 parts here (tagged to play all 3 in order): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpMMm2tGwAw&list=PLF8042C005392BF0E&feature=mh_lolz I have also collaborated with a fellow abridger on a one-episode short “Cardcaptors Abridged” (which we co-wrote and I edited): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0LI4NNYziE I will be happy to provide writing samples on request. |
