About Yourself:
About You: | My name is Jay Scrimizzi. After working my way up the rungs of Production Assistant and Locations Assistant, I finally began working as Production Designer on my 1st two feature films. I received my last big job offer as a Production Designer on a feature in 2008. At the time I had to turn it down because I needed daily medications and couldn’t afford to lose the benefits I had with my secure job at the time or I would have become very ill. It was the hardest moment of my life, to be quite honest. I had to give it all up back then and it was devastating. I am leaving my secure job of 6 years because it just isn’t where I’m meant to be and I know that. It’s been hell…BUT.. I got married to an amazing woman this past summer. She is a teacher and has brought me on to her benefits and given me the greatest gift anyone could have ever given me, a second chance. Without the restrictions of needing health coverage, I’m finally back at the door and I’m ready to kick it in. I’m taking that scary leap from the secure to the unknown but I’m ready. I’ve been ready and now I’m finally a FREE man! Being out of production for so many years has caused quite a gap in my resume as you can see. I have to rely on the hope that someone will look past my absence because I know I may not look that strong on paper. I am trying to find any entry level grunt work in production to start working again. I don’t care how many 18 hour days or crazy travel the position would require.I am hungry for this second chance and can promise that you would have a committed and extremely hard working candidate in me. I have excellent interpersonal skills and a rock solid work ethic. I am a creative thinker and writer. As a writer, I can type fast and think faster. I have an impressive and extensive knowledge of all things pop culture and there is not a celebrity on the planet that I am not familiar with. I am someone who thrives on a fast paced and ever changing position and I excel in collaborative environments. I am 100% flexible and have no restrictions. I am ready to go and hit the ground running. I hope you’ll consider speaking with me. I just need that one person to give me a chance Jay Scrimizzi Specialties: Writing, Design, Acting/ Performing, Producing/Directing Writing Work History: “Oratory” (Screenplay) Winter 2009 “The Nose”– Short Film submission for the Howard Stern Film Festival Spring 2006 “Searching For Pacino” — Short Film Spring 2005 Film Work History (Writing, Visual Arts and Design, Acing/Performing, Producing, Directing, Location Scouting and Management, and Cinematography) “Choke” (ATO Films 2008) — Independent Feature Film Summer 2007 “Cult of Sincerity” — Independent Feature Film Winter 2007 “Favorite Son”– Independent Feature Film Summer 2006 “Life Wasted” — Short Film; Featured Extra 2007 “Sopranos Unauthorized” – Documentary; Freelance Videographer 2004 Special Interest/Skills Education: Technical Skills: PC and MAC, Adobe Photoshop, DV Camera Operation with an understanding of Aesthetics Education: |
