We’re casting two small but impactful roles for an upcoming independent thriller short film. The scene will be filmed as a continuous long take, with both actors playing an important role in building the tension and realism of the moment. Mother–son acting duos are strongly encouraged to submit. While we are open to casting the roles separately, it would be ideal to cast a real-life mother and son together, as their natural connection could bring added authenticity to the scene.
ROLE 1: MOM
Playing age: 30–45
Character: A distracted but protective mother who is initially absorbed in her phone. When her son notices something unsettling about a stranger in the elevator, she quickly pulls him closer and tries to smooth over the awkward interaction. Her concern gradually grows as she realizes the situation may be more unsettling than she first thought.
ROLE 2: DREW
Playing age: 7–11
Character: An observant, curious child who notices that something is wrong with a stranger in the elevator. Unlike the adults around him, Drew is direct and instinctively asks if the stranger is okay. His innocence and honesty make the moment unexpectedly tense.
SHOOT DETAILS
📍 Studio set near St. Clair Ave. West & Jane Street, Toronto
🎥 Scene filmed as a continuous long take
🎭 Dialogue-based roles with subtle but important emotional beats
📅 Shoot date: August 5th, evening (most likely 6 pm, to be confirmed)
💰 Compensation: $250 each.
